About Me!

Hi, I'm Cyberjohn or John Goldsmith, a recently retired educator with 38 years experience as a classroom teacher, teacher-librarian and online educator. My last assignment was with the Fraser Valley Distance Education School (a public online school) where I worked for more then 20 years in a variety of rolls such as teacher, counsellor, tech support and course developer.

Before that I was a Teacher/Librarian at the Junior/Senior high school level for many years and before that a Middle School humanities teacher.

Along the way, I've picked up (in addition to undergrad/teaching degrees) a Teacher-Librarian's Diploma, a Master's degree in Education Technology and a couple of awards. The one I'm most proud of is the Premier's Award for Teaching Excellence.

Now that I'm retired, I should probably put the past behind me and move on to more "sunset like" activities such as golf, shuffleboard or gardening but I just can't seem to leave it (edtech) alone. Instead, I continue to spend a LOT of time online, preparing for workshop/professional development sessions which I continue to facilitate (on topics such as, new web 2.0 tools, social media tools, Internet Searching, Email, Twitter, Information Literacy, Digital Citizenship), working on various projects, checking out the latest online ed-apps, sharing a few good links with friends and colleagues through my DIIGO account or twitter stream, blogging and tweeking this website.

So, that's me.
